The Department of Soil and Water Engineering, College of Technology and Engineering was started in 1964. The department imparting teaching at under graduate level leading to degree of BE (Ag.). The department has started master program in Soil and Water Conservation Engineering in 1978 and Irrigation Water Management Engineering in 1986. Leading to degree of ME (Ag.), the Ph.D program in Soil and Water Conservation Engineering and Irrigation Water Management Engineering was started in 1996. The department has so far produced 55 PhD and 203 ME/M.Tech in Soil and Water Engineering and Irrigation Engineering field. The department has well qualified staff. They have sufficient teaching and research experience. The adequate supporting staff is also available with the department.
Ground Water Pumping Laboratory has capability to test pumps of all capacity and discharge ranges, so as to cater to the needs of farmers for deciding appropriate pump rating for their irrigation pumping requirements. The performance studies of pumps can also carried out to detect mal functioning of appropriateness of installed pumps in terms of discharge and working heads at farmer’s field. GIS laboratory imparts experiential learning to students. |
