The College of Technology and Engineering, Udaipur (CTAE) is a constituent college of the Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur. The college was started in 1964 with a Graduate Programme in Agricultural Engineering. Presently the CTAE has undergraduate degree programmes in 8 branches, M.Tech.  programmes in 12 disciplines, besides an MBA programme in Engineering and PhD programmes in 9 disciplines. It is situated at about 7 km from Udaipur city railway station and bus terminal and 2 km from Rana Pratap Nagar railway station.

The college has a rich infrastructure with well-equipped laboratories in each department having modern state-of-art instruments/equipment to provide the hands-on training to the students. Besides laboratories, the college central workshop in the department of Mechanical Engineering is well equipped with modern machines, tools and other facilities to impart training to the students and help in project work. Other departments such as Farm Machinery and Power Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering and Post-Harvest Technology have their own workshops to handle R & D projects.

The agricultural engineering departments have excellent experiential learning facilities to provide hands-on experience to build practical skills and entrepreneurship among the students. A modern Instructional farm of about 17 ha is used to impart practical training to the students in the operation of farm machines and equipment, modern irrigation and drainage system and processing operations. The farm has a poly-house for the purpose of teaching and research. A modern Agro-Meteorological Observatory is located on the instructional farm. The college also has a Soil and Water Conservation Demonstration Centre of about 100 ha with model watershed in which all the technologies of soil and water conservation and water harvesting have been developed to impart practical training to the students, farmers, field functionaries and officers working in the field of watershed management.

The computer center of the college has excellent facilities for conducting the practicals and imparting training to students. 24x7 internet connectivity with 155 mbps through NKN is provided using OFC backbone. All the academic buildings and hostels have Wi-Fi facility. Besides, all departments have well developed computer labs with subject specific modern software. 

The college has highly qualified faculty with not only national but also international exposure in teaching and research.  The faculty is quite active in research and consultancy. Currently seven All Indian Coordinated Research Projects sponsored by ICAR and a host of other projects funded by various agencies like DST, CSIR, etc. are functional in the college. The technologies developed under these projects have been well received and appreciated by ICAR and other funding agencies. The publications by the faculty in high impact factor peer reviewed journals is all time high in recent years. The college also provides consultancy and testing services to state government departments, public sector organizations, industry and others.

The college has been recognized as Outstanding Engineering College in Northern Region and has been awarded “Outstanding Institution Award” in 2013 by National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research, Chandigarh (a Ministry of Human Resource and Development, Government of India, Institute). A project funded by Ministry of Human Resources Development through World Bank on “Technical Education Quality Improvement Project (TEQIP-II)” worth INR 10.0 crore is also functional in this college with the objectives of strengthening laboratories, developing smart-class rooms, enriching college library by procuring, books, e-books and subscribing to journals and undertaking several activities to increase the quality of teaching.

The college library has over 56,000 books in addition to a large collection of bound journals, technical reports, e-books, CDs, etc. The book bank with over 35,000 books is also available. The library subscribes to all important journals like IEEE, ASCE, ASME, CeRA, etc. to cater for research needs of faculty and students.  

The college has a full-fledged information and placement bureau to take care of placement of students. Most of the students get on-campus placement in good companies while many of them secure admissions in prestigious institutions like IITs, IIMs, IRMA and also in foreign universities on scholarships. A Communication Skills & Personality Development Cell is also functional. A number of lectures from eminent persons are arranged for personality development and expanding knowledge horizon of students. The students perform equally well both in academics and co-curricular activities. 

The college has its own play grounds and courts for all games including a mini gymnasium. The nearby university sports complex is also available for the students. The Facilities of bank, post office, and canteen are also there in the college campus.

The college has four boys hostel, namely AN Khosla hostel, MV hostel, PG hostel and GSM hostel to accommodate about 355 students. A separate hostel to accommodate 36 PhD students is also there. Two girls’ hostels, CTAE girls’ hostel and Ganga hostel, are available to accommodate about 160 female students.

The college has a formal Alumni Association. The College Level Student Union (CLSU) is constituted with the aim of promoting professional and social interest among its members. All the students enrolled in the college become members of this association. The Dean of the college is the Patron of CLSU.
