Environment Laboratory

The equipment/ facilities are used for imparting knowledge related to Environmental aspects of Mining activities i.e. Air quality monitoring - dust, mine gases etc.; to UG & PG students. Also used for research & consultancy work. Major facilities available are:

Dust Sampler (Envirotech), Dust Sampler (Gravimetric) DGMS Approved, Portable pH detector, Air velocity meter, Electronic Anemometer, Vibration meter, Camera (Scientific Photography), Digital Balance, Gas Analyzer, Refrigerator

 

Mine Computing Laboratory

Mining related software are used to impart knowledge related to mine planning, blast design, ventilation network planning, Slope stability analysis, underground structure designing etc. to UG & PG students. Also used for research & consultancy work. Major facilities available are:

Mine Environment Software: VENT, SINET, PSYCHRO, and AWQEFA.

Rock Mechanics &

Dimensional Stone Technology

Laboratory

The equipment/ facilities are used for imparting knowledge related to determination of Physico-mechanical properties of stones and soil, measurement of insitu stress and deformation, rock cutting & polishing of dimensional stones etc.; to UG & PG students. Also used for research & consultancy work. Major facilities available are:

Electronic Universal Testing Machine, Triaxial Testing Machine, Slake durability apparatus, Multipoint borehole extensometer, Tape extensometer, Polishing machine, Permeability meter, Rock bolt tester, Rock cutter, Flat Jack, Ultrasonic flaw detector, Blastmate – III & Micromate seismograph, Ultrasonic P-wave, Abrasive resistance equipment, Protodyakonov and Impact Strength Index app., Direct shear app.etc.

Mining and Mineral Dressing Laboratory

The equipment/ facilities are used to impart knowledge related to generation of compressed air for running compressed air operated mining machineries, support withdrawal, mineral processing techniques to UG & PG students. Also used for research & consultancy work. Major facilities available are:

Air Compressor, Jack hammer, Sylvestor Prop Withdrawer,

Jaw crusher, Roll crusher, Sieve Shaker, Vibrating screen, Wilfley table, Laboratory Pulverizes, Ball Mill, Flotation cell, Filter press,

 

Mining Geology Laboratory

[100 sq.m.]

The equipment/ facilities are used to impart knowledge related to identification of minerals using latest equipment such as advanced petrological microscope, finding minerals at depth, to UG & PG students. Also used for research & consultancy work. Major facilities available are:

Magnetometer, Resistivity meter, Ore microscope, Advanced Petrological Microscope, GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar), Metallic and Non-Metallic Mineral Samples, Crystal-Models,

 

Survey Laboratory

[60 sq.m.]

Mine Surveeying equipments are used to impart knowledge of Mine survying for opencast as well as underground, locating true north, preparation of various mining maps/plans to UG & PG students. Also used for research & consultancy work.

Major facilities available are:

Total Station, Electronic theodolite, Micro-optic Theodolite,  Vernier Theodolite , GPS (Global positioning system), DGPS (Differential Global positioning system),  Digital Automatic Level, Gyro-station (True North Direction App.);

Mine Model Laboratory

[200 sq.m.]

The various mining models are used for understanding the mining terminology as well as mining aspects related to shaft sinking, winding, opencast mining, machineries etc.to UG & PG students.

Major facilities available are:

Winding installation, Mechanised coal mines, Longwall (Advancing face with stowing model), Cage suspension gear model, Friction or Koepe winding system tower mounted , Shaft sinking model, Pump section model, U/G Coal Mining Methods models

Gas Testing Laboratory

DGMS (Directorate General of Mines Safety) approved equipments facililates for obtaining gas testing certificate issued by DGMS to UG students. Major facilities available are:

Methane Gas Testing Chamber (DGMS approved), Gas testing flame safety lamps, Model flame safety lamp (Replica)
